Testimonials
I brought my mom along for our first visit to Hawaii. I wanted to thank Keao, the driver and guide for our Oahu Grand Circle Island Tour. He took the time to get to know each of us personally, called us by our names, and was really easy to get a long with. The knowledge he has and the history that he passed on during the tour was amazing. We had plenty of time at each stop to take in all the sites. Oahu is a beautiful place. I will definitely take another Polynesian Adventure Tour and hope that I will get Keao again, or at least a tour guide as great as he is. Mahalo Keao, for a very memorable time! MELE KALIKIMAKA

Decription:

Departs from Hilo area hotels and Hilo Airport:
The recent eruptions of Hawaii's Kilauea Volcano in Volcanoes National Park have captured the world's imagination. This narrated Volcano Adventure features a hike over the lava flow that covered the village of Kalapana and famous Kaimu black sand beach in the 1980's. You will experience a short walk out to the newest accessible black sand beach which takes you over an area that was once the ocean. Look to the east and see the slopes of Volcanoes National Park where, if there is any surface lava flow, you may see steam or lava coming down towards the sea. You will explore Volcanoes National Park, Jagger Museum, Thurston Lava Tube, Kilauea Iki Crater and Lava Tree State Park. This excursion continues on to majestic Rainbow Falls where the rushing water interacts with the golden sunshine to create rainbows. You will visit a colorful anthurium and orchid nursery where you will discover these exotic blooms.

Restrictions:

This tour departs from Hilo side of the Big Island and Hilo Airport.

Wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes as this tour traverses sharp, uneven lava surfaces.

We discourage young children, passengers with asthma, or other respiratory conditions to avoid potential health problems due to exposure to fumes. All passengers are required to sign a release of liability form.

We cannot predict weather or lava viewing conditions. Lava viewing features can change hourly. We do not guarantee sighting of active lava flows. Surface lava may be present but may not be viewable due to environmental condtions or time constraints. When lava enters the ocean, intense heat can produce a plume cloud with dangerous and potentially life threatening toxic gases, super heated steam and hydrocloric acid. Airborne particles are a hazard to your eyes and lungs. Leave area at once. If inland flows are present, and you use caution you may have an opportunity to view fresh lava up close. Follow marked routes and your guides instructions. Molten lava is 2000 degrees F. Keep a safe distance and never go into areas where your escape route may be cut off. Do not throw objects into lava as this can cause burns from spattering lava or eye injuries from airborne volcanic glass. BE AWARE, STAY ALERT, USE CAUTION, DO NOT TAKE CHANCES.

Operates daily

No host lunch at Volcano House (subject to change).

Some features may be closed on Christmas, New Year's Day or Thanksgiving.
