This half day Kauai tour will take you to explore panoramic Waimea Canyon which Mark Twain called, "the Grand Canyon of the Pacific." Over ten miles long, and almost 4,000 feet deep, this marvel was formed by erosion and the catastrophic collapse of the volcano that created Kauai. Waimea Canyon State Park encompasses 1,866 acres and is a popular tourist attraction on the island. It provides a wilderness area with numerous hiking trails. It can be accessed from Waimea on Hawaiʻi state road 550, which is 18 miles long and leads up to Koke'e State Park. The island of Niihau, only a short distance west of Kauai at that point, can be clearly seen from the highway. Onward and upward! We'll drive up to 3,400 feet to see the "Grand Canyon of the Pacific" - Waimea Canyon! The canyon is 10 miles long, 1 mile wide, and more than 3,500-feet deep. It was carved thousands of years ago by rivers and floods that flowed from Mount Waialeale's summit.

As we cruise along the southern coast, we'll drive through Poipu, a resort getaway for those in the know and home the Spouting Horn. This natural wonder occurs when water rushes under a lava shelf and bursts through a small opening at the surface, making an eerie hissing noise.
